Citizens in Hillsboro, Oregon filed the following update as a post-victory update on Wal-Mart in their town: “A rumor is circulating that Wal-Mart intends to come back with a revised development proposal for a 2 story superstore, with underground parking smack in the middle of numerous residential neighborhoods. As the lead neighborhood opponent of Wal-Mart’s first Hillsboro proposal, I am keenly following any of these new developments, and hope to alert neighbors and friends opposed to Wal-Mart here and elsewhere. We fought for about 2 years against the first proposal and finally won at the Court of Appeals level, which affirmed the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) and the City’s denial of that first proposal. Now, it seems the Wal-Mart is regrouping, and has apparently retained a new attorney as well. We are preparing for another battle.
