Online Fund Drive Seeks to Keep Wal-Mart Out!

The small town of Greenfield, Massachusetts made national news in 1993 when it voted to block a Wal-Mart superstore. It launched a national movement of Sprawl-Busters.
But the battle never stopped.

In 2006, Wal-Mart came back for a second try. Today, 7 homeowners are fighting to keep the world’s richest family from building a store bigger than two football fields across the street from their homes.

The neighbors sued town officials in 2011 for approving the plan, and have been in court for nearly 5 years. A trial is scheduled later this spring–and neighbors need to raise another $15,000 to pay their expert witnesses and lawyers.

These people are fighting a huge corporation that has laid waste to countless small towns in America. With the help of Al Norman, the founder of Sprawl-Busters, these neighbors are taking on a very wealthy developer and the Walton empire.

Your contribution will send a message that the quality of life in hometown America is worth more than a cheap pair of underwear.

Here is the link to the fund drive:

We are fighting a very wealthy mall developer from Connecticut, and the richest family in the world (the Walton heirs) worth collectively more than $146,000,000,000.

There’s something uniquely American about using the internet to gather small donations to take on the Waltons.

Please make a donation, and pass the online fund drive link to your friends online.
