If you go to the Home Depot website, and search the store locator for “Peachtree City, GA”, you will find page after page of Home Depot stores nearby. I stopped counting at store #18. Within a 10 mile radius of Peachtree City, there are more Home Depots than you can shake a hammer at. Some residents may have been relieved to learn in this week’s Citizen newspaper that Home Depot was dropping its plan to locate a store at the Kedron Village mall. However, Home Depot is still pursing another location on Highway 54 on the western side of the city. The Home Depot proposal is slated for discussion at the November 22nd. meeting of the City’s Planning Commission. Area residents are mounting opposition to the plan, which is a hammer pointed directly at existing merchants in Peachtree City, since the surrounding area is already overripe with Home Depot stores. The Citizen newspaper says Home Depot has now put all its Peachtree City eggs into one basket. But that’s not quite the case. It’s Peachtree City which will put all its fruit into the Home Depot basket as the area gets saturated with orange-striped stores.
