In this historic community that each year awaits the return of the swallows, there is much less enthusiasm for the return of Home Depot developers who want to build a 129,803 s.f. building 8 feet from the property line of a 400 resident senior citizens mobile home park. HD already lost a similar battle against seniors at the Journey’s End Park in Santa Rosa, CA, but now they want to bring 8,000+ cars to the edge of the mobile home park. Says one elder: “I’d have to sell my unit to somebody who is blind and deaf and doesn’t want to go outside.” The City Council has the discretion to reject this zoning request. The city owns the land.
Write to Mayor David Swerdlin at: 32400 Paseo Adelanto, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675 and let him know Home Depot won’t fly in Capistrano. Swallows, Yes, Home Depot, No! Call the Mayor at (714) 493-1171. Then call Home Depot representative Sylvia Novoa at (714) 457-2164. Give her the same message, and ask her to let Home Depot’s Real Estate Manager in the Western Region to know that the Capistrano proposal is a bird-brained idea.
