Mayor Dennis Buckley has pretty much fed up with Wal-Mart.
The mayor of Beech Grove, IN has endured a string of criminal incidents and bad news headlines, including unwanted national attention from a fight that erupted between two women and a six-year-old boy in Wal-Mart???s aisles.
According to the Indianapolis Star newspaper, Mayor Buckley has declared the Wal-Mart in Beech Grove a public nuisance. As a result of this designation, Beech Grove could levy municipal fines on the retailer if police have to answer calls from the store.
Last June, an alleged shoplifter at Wal-Mart was chased from the store by police, ran a red light and crashed into another car, killing the 63-year-old driver and injuring two others.
A week ago, another purported shoplifter pulled a gun and fled to a nearby restaurant, where he shot himself. Wal-Mart has been a mecca for crime in Beech Grove. From February of 2014 to June of 2015, the cops made 1,278 trips to the Wal-Mart, and made 473 arrests.
Mayor Buckley has reached the end of his rope. “This isn’t anything new,??? he told The Star. ???We have been concerned about this for at least two years, and there have been just some quiet talks with Wal-Mart concerning the number of police runs down there and the fact that they’re draining our resources every single day. It’s my opinion as mayor that this has to stop.”
???I don’t want to get a phone call every day saying that somebody pulled a gun at Wal-Mart and has done something out of line,” Buckley told the media.
Wal-Mart could juist announce that the store had plumbing problems, and shut it down. That might make Mayor Dennis Buckley happy.

Readers are urged to call Wal-Mart at 1-800-Walmart with this message:
“Hey, Wal-Mart, its time for you to pony up for some decent security protection at your Beech Grove, IN store. Your shoppers and your staff need to be protected, and the taxpayers of Beech Grove need some relief as well. Your store has become a magnet for crime.”
