Not here, Planners tell Home Depot. That’s the headline in the Patriot Ledger newspaper. Planners voted 3-1 against a special zoning permit to allow a 134,000 Home Depot right off of Cape Cod, where the store was recently rejected in Yarmouth. “I’m not going to make another bad decision for my daughter and family and future generations,” said Board member Chris Bean. “Home Depot is a quick fix, that doesn’t fix anything.” Bean also criticized the town decision 3 years ago to let Wal-Mart locate in a strip called Cordage Park. “Three years ago they told us if we didn’t approve Wal-Mart, Cordage park would close. Wal-Mart has been here three years and the vacancy rate at Cordage Park is higher than before.”
