Residents in Bithlo, Florida report that “Wal-mart is seeking to change our Future Land Use map to build a new super center 3.2 miles from one that is less than 5 years old. In addition to this, the land they want to develop is more than 1/2 Florida Class 1 wetlands. This means that the wetlands are active and contributing to the watershed of the Econlockhatchee River. This is the water supply of the rural communities east of the proposed Wal-Mart. The residents do not want Wal-Mart, especially on our wetland. They go befor the Local Planning Acgeny of Orange County, FL on November 20, 2003. This is in an un-incorporated area of the county.”
