The Honolulu City Council has delayed a vote to rezone a 14 acre parcel of city owned land in Pearl City to make way for a Home Depot. The 8-1 vote by the Council sends the rezoning issue back to the Council’s Zoning Committee, and leaves Home Depot’s bid to purchase the land from the city on hold. Home Depot has voluntarily withdrawn their offer to buy the land. The Alliance for Responsible Growth has vigorously fought Home Depot’s plans for Pearl City, and the Council vote was seen as a setback for Home Depot.
