Great news from Bristol, PA. After only 14 years in business, Wal-Mart is shutting down its store in three weeks.
According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, 197 employees will lose their jobs. Wal-Mart says they will be offered jobs elsewhere???but this is no guarantee of work.
The company said the decision to create another ???dark store??? was ???not an easy one,??? but was based on financial under performance and how it figured into Wal-Mart???s long-term plans.
The Bristol store is 118,389 square feet, or close to two and a half football fields of empty space. Wal-Mart does not own the space, it rents the store. That means the landlord will have to search for another tenant, but there are not many retailers looking or a space that big.
